The 20th Anniversary of Rust in Piece
American thrash metal legends Megadeth have announced that they will be heading out on the road in March to not only support their new studio album, “Endgame,” but also to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of their classic 1990 album, “Rust In Peace.” The band will be performing the album from start to finish at the Palladium in LA. A text message from drummer Shawn Drover, appealing to Ellefson to return for the “Rust in Peace” 20th anniversary tour, sealed the deal.
“Once I got on the phone with Dave, he was like, “Little brother, come home.’ I was like, “Man, thank you.’ That’s how it happened,” Ellefson recalled. “It was sincere. I get goose bumps even talking about it”
Megadeth is known for its distinctive instrumental style, often featuring dense, intricate passages and trade off guitar solos. Mustaine is also known for his “snarling” vocal style, as well as his recurring lyrical themes including politics, war, addiction, personal relationships, and the occult.
Megadeth has sold close to 25 million albums worldwide, with five consecutive albums being certified platinum in the USA. The band has also been nominated for seven consecutive nominations for Best Metal Performance.
