Length: 90 minutes
Genre: Music Concert
Year Produced: 2005
On Thanksgiving weekend 2005, Slightly Stoopid coasted into their hometown for a triumphant two-night stand at the brand-new House of Blues in San Diego. Drawing on newer material from their 2005 album Closer to the Sun, as well as older tracks dating back to 1998, the twenty song set spans the band’s catalogue of self proclaimed “acoustic rock and blues with reggae, hip-hop, and punk” style. With many bands claiming to mix these genres lately, Slightly Stoopid does something to stand out from the cheap, frat-boy, party bands that have littered the landscape with generic sounding acoustic reggae rock.
Caught on tape for the band’s first-ever full-length concert, Live In San Diego is 90 minutes of Stoopid in full effect. Myles & Kyle’s signature vocals, Rymo & OG’s locked drums and conga grooves and a house full of crazy Stoopid fans! “Running With A Gun,” “Mellow Mood” and “Ain’t Got A Lot Of Money” are viewer highlights, and the audience is notably amped for the crowd favorites, “Couldn’t Get High” and “Collie Man.”
