Every once in a while, a band rises up under its own power, fueled by the sheer excitement of its music and the underground buzz of its fans. The band emerges from the thousands of hardworking acts traversing the country’s highways by delivering something different, something real…something you haven’t heard before. Right now, that band is Dispatch.
“Dispatch:Zimbabwe,” a benefit concert being held at Madison Square Garden, was originally created as a one-night event to take place on July 14, 2007. Given that tickets sold out within 30 minutes via an exclusive Myspace.com and facebook.com pre-sale, a July 13th show was added immediately in order to accommodate fans. In less than 24 hours, the second night was sold out via the same pre-sale, so the Vermont-formed trio announced a third show for July 15th with tickets also selling out in less than 24 hours! These three dates have already made history, making Dispatch the first independent band to sell out Madison Square Garden.
All of the net proceeds from “Dispatch: Zimbabwe” will go towards fighting disease, famine, and social injustice in Zimbabwe. In an effort to bring the fight to their own country, Dispatch will donate a small portion of the money raised to the domestic causes they have long supported.
Shot in HD and directed by Danny Clinch, this is a broadcast opportunity not to miss!
